Brian's Bits

And the very same to you.

Went to "Ruro" for a wander about.
Thereby hangs a tale.

We were down in '99 for the eclipse, and actually saw it.
Perched on a blanket, on the dunes, armed with a bottle or two, six of us witnessed it.
The heavens opened like a scene from a biblical epic on BIG screen, stayed open long enough to see the entire event, then it closed over again for the rest of the day.
Two young blippers, 12yrs younger than now, were
A) Unaccustomed to Cornish names.
B) Accustomed to t'old folk shortening "the item" down to "t'item" in our local vernacular,
ergo the poor wee lasses thought that by "Going to Truro" we meant Going to "The Ruro" and, of course, the name stuck.

Didn't see any knickers that time though.
