Lunch

A couple of bad nights' sleep (I'm not saying it was all down to the bizarre snoring coming from beside me in the bed, but mostly) earned me a lie in today, and Mr B's delicious creamy scrambled eggs for breakfast. Next we tackled the weekly shop, market-style at the huge Saturday market at Lavaur. The end we arrived from was the live produce end - a row of chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, kittens, rabbits, puppies and finches that had the kids oohing and aahing at every turn. We very nearly came home with a couple of beautiful Peking bantam hens - but sanity prevailed and I realised that a hen house should probably be the first purchase...

Lunch was from market purchases (delicious basil olives and this extraordinarily gooey cheese which could only be eaten straight from the pot with bread dipped in) and the garden - the lettuce on the right was from pot to plate in less than 30 seconds. We haven't grown proper lettuce before (just rocket) and were quite suprised by the taste. I think normally we eat lettuce chilled, at which temperature nothing really has much taste.

Now, after much post-lunch construction (a hammock and various other things) and tidying, Mr B is dozing (in a hammock, suprisingly enough) and I'm getting everything ready for an evening watching last week's Doctor Who and tonight's Man U - Barcelona match. Conor and I are supporting Barcelona, Katherine is undecided and Mr B is supporting "a good game of football" (he means Man U).
