Journey Through Time

Be All You Can, Bee

Aunty, Bill and I went to Bauman Farms in Woodburn, OR today. Then we went to Al's Greenhouse. The weather turned out better than we expected and we had sun while we were at Bauman's which warmed up the greenhouse area nicely. There were a lot of people there and everyone was in a good mood. Everyone was looking at the plants everyone else was picking out and there was a lot of chatter and scurrying about as people were grabbing up various plants. It actually got quite warm in their greenhouse area and a few people were shedding their jackets. Like me. There is an outdoor garden and picnic tables if you want to go outside to eat or bring a lunch. They have a few treats to buy, like scones and cookies and doughnuts and pies (we bought a loganberry pie), but not lunch type things. We had some coffee drinks and strawberry doughnuts before taking on the outdoor garden and then the greenhouses. The bees were everywhere as they were also enjoying the sun and the abundance of plants. I got this shot, which I'm quite pleased with, so thought I'd show you that one. It was hard to choose the blip as I have several images that would have been nice. The name of this plant is in my brain, but doesn't want to come out just now. It is a spikey bloom, and as it opened up a bit, the bees were all over it. Indian Paintbrush! That may be it. See, it just had to trickle up to the front. Whew, that was hard work!

So, after spending some money there we went to Al's which isn't far, back into Woodburn proper, and there were lots of people there, too. It's a bigger nursery and they have a lot of pots and fountains, and birdbaths and they have a wonderful gift area with tons of things to look at.

We bought some more stuff there...and could hardly fit it into the car! This was my aunties belated Mother's Day gifts and possibly her birthday present too!

Then we headed back to Portland and ate lunch at the Clackamas Town Center at a brew pub place called The Ram. The have pretty good pub grub.

All in all, a nice day. The clouds were amazing and we enjoyed seeing the sky on the trip down and back. It rained while we were undercover at Al's, and sprinkled a bit just before we got home.
