A heartwarming smile

Tonight little Sam has been full of beans.
It is so lovely to see his wee personality developing. He is a real smiler. : )

It's funny how gratifying a simple smile can be. In the very early days I kept saying/thinking 'I wonder if he's happy?'. Obviously he just couldn't express that emotion the way he can now. It really does these first few (tiring) months of motherhood so much more rewarding when you see that little face beaming back at you. Long may that continue!

Today was a much easier and more enjoyable day than yesterday when our 2 year old Luke had had too little sleep the night before and was a complete grump for most of the day. He really tested my patience yesterday: I could feel my blood pressure rising the more and more difficult he became. Today he has been a wee ray of sunshine, and yesterday's tantrums seem to have come from a completely different child! These 'terrible twos' have definitely been trying so far. Perhaps it's good preparation for what it's like to have a teenager? ; )
