Three Mermaids

What a glorious afternoon. The temperature reached into the low 90s today, so we decided to check out a pond we'd only ever driven by. The water was unexpectedly warm -- my daughter didn't get out for three hours, and I regretted that I hadn't brought my swimsuit. I could only go in up to my knees.

By coincidence, some friends of ours showed up late in the afternoon, and the girls played "mermaid" until 7:30 p.m. The adults couldn't get over the beautiful weather and water. As my friend K. said, "After the winter we had, we deserve this." Indeed. A perfect way to end the week and to begin summer vacation.
