Barley & Cornflowers

It's been steamy hot here. The sort of close, clammy heat that lets you know that you're going to have thunderstorms but not until later.

Just as we were going to the cinema, as it turns out, and were on the autobahn with a thousand idiots trying to get home without the rain hitting their beautiful car. That wasn't pleasant at all. The thunderstorm was though, all dramatic thunderclaps and big lightning. It was quite something driving along in that and watching planes coming in to land at the airport.

The film was OK - a pretty typical Masala affair, a bit of comedy, a couple of good songs, a fun bit of Dishoom and some pretty standard Salman turns. I like that sort of thing though. However, what made it for me was the audience - when I went to see Indian cinema in edinburgh the crowds were always small, here the place was full. Not an empty seat anywhere. And it was, as I'd been told, a blast - people walking around, kids playing, people talking, mobiles going off , whistling and, as expected, people laughing at completely different bits. It was 2 and a half hours of fun. Can't ask for more than that on a Sunday afternoon.

Today's Blip is a little bit of calm. Cornflowers in a barley field. I think they're lovely.
