What a day. It rained, heavily, overnight, and we wondered what the day would bring. Good weather actually.

So we had a big breakfast and headed into the hills, or the North Template Valley to be exact. 2.5 hours each way, although we didn't expect going that far, givin early river crossing, and very big mountains. All in all, photographers paradise!

We crossed the North Temple, actually I did 3 times, to test the depth (due to high rainfall), then to carry Adam, then to escort Hil. Without boots on as I wanted to keep them dry. Instead I got very very very colt feet. Took around 20 (painful) minutes for them to defrost.

Then up the valley. Very beautiful walk along river flats and beech forest, with the occasional/river challenge. In the end, one challenge too many, and after 1.5 hours walk Hannah fell in a stream, she wasn't happy! So we dried off, had some food, wiped way the tears, and headed back. It was enough really. And it was fantastic.

And after walking out we had a sausage BBQ on the lakefront of Ohau, then fun at the lodge, and a lovely dinner with Mike and Louise.

But, after that lovely scenery and great times, I had two highlights. Hannah and her rock, and Adam with a simply fab photo of trees and mountains (which I thought of posting). Brilliant day!

But, at the end of the day, it was this special girl and this little rock that did it for me. We brought them both home ;-)
