St Clair Esplanade by night

Today is Queens Birthday Monday in New Zealand, a public holiday and the local camera club is having a trip out to the esplanade so I thought it sounded like a great old idea to go along for a look. Geez it was cold, dark and uninspiring. Great people to make up for it, thats for sure. I captured this image, it wasn?t easy to get anything because there is a lot of work being done out here at the moment so a lot of clutter everywhere.

It got me thinking...........

What inspired me to get out of a warm comfy chair to go out on a frozen winters night to photograph in the dark?
This is a question all photographers ask themselves from time to time, has anyone ever found the answer??
