Here there and everywhere

Was actually taking a pic of an old-fashioned flat in our barrio when I noticed this detail on the outside entrance wall.

I've mentioned on blip before that entrances to Spanish flat buildings are important as many friends (especially with older generations) aren't invited up to the flat when they call to pick you up, but are invited to wait downstairs. A lot of the socialising still goes on outside in cafes and restaurants you see. So you'll often find that even the smallest, humblest entranceway is sparkling clean and has a sofa, chairs and a coffee table. On the other end of the scale of course, there some very impressive ones, kitted out with the very best pieces of furniture with a floor area bigger than entire flats that Bb and I have had!

Our Scottish blippers especially will be pleased to know that we've got thunderstorms here today and it's much chillier than it should be for June. I'm glad my brother was here last week and at least got a few days of good weather!

Just found out that what was meant to be a simple case of paying for a visa on arrival in Cairo airport for my work there in July is turning into something a bit more difficult because of recent changes to the application system. Oh dear - let's hope I can still get it done!
