Night Out!

Well, well, well...

A planned night out with friends was cancelled (and re-scheduled) due to work commitments, so me and hubby decided to take advantage of the already-arranged babysitters (hubby's dad & sis) and headed into Glasgow for a VERY rare night out - just the two of us.

We started in Blackfriars (well, we started in the opticians actually for an eye-test for hubby, swiftly followed by a pint in Blackfriars!), then headed over towards the very centre of town to the Social for a cocktail or three...

Then we went for dinner in an amazing Asian fusion dim sum restaurant called Opium - we'd read a few favourable reviews before booking, and it has to be said, we weren't disappointed! The food was amazing, the wine was excellent. Hubby's pudding was tremendous - deep-fried ice-cream - soooooo good. Glasgow, where else?!!

I couldn't manage pudding, so I ordered this cocktail as dessert instead - called 'Opium's Den', it contained Violette liqueur along with Bombay Sapphire gin, and blueberries amongst other things - it was absolutely delicious. I didn't even know you could get this Violette liqueur - tastes like parma violets - one of my favourite flavours in the world. I need to buy some!!

Great grown-up night out, we definitely need to do this more often. :-)
