Corrosion

A tropical climate plays havoc with metal, causing all kinds of rust and corrosion. Add a beachside location and you get the result shown here. I cannot recall this gate, at the north end of Playa La Ropa, opening since we have been walking the beach the past five months. If the owners wait too much longer, the only way to open it will be with a hacksaw.
