Towing the Hermod

The last few days i showed some pictures of parts of our ship without mentioning or showing the ship herself. It is a so called ocean going tug and currently we are towing the cranebarge Hermod from Pointe Noire (Congo) to Rotterdam. You can see our aft deck and 1150 metres behind us our tow, the Hermod. At the bottom of this picture you can see our two winches, on the left the anchorhandling drum, while on the right our - almost empty - towing drum. We carry 1500 metres 3 inch diameter towwire of which we have almost 1200 metres paid out now. Our current position is 160 nautical miles SW of Freetown, Sierra Leone, and the outside temperature is hot. Compared to European temperatures, the seawater is also hot ; 30 degrees centigrade. That means that during the night the temperature will not come lower than that of the surrounding seawater. And that's quite warm. As far as I can see no snow or blizzards here.
