Partial Eclipse Of The Duck

Here's a duck with a lot of attitude, who shops at the Co-op in Calne. He and a number of his friends came up to me, in the hope that I had some bread. The river runs behind the car park and there's a healthy community of ducks there.

A bird photographer would probably disdain this mallard drake as he is a bad specimen. His plumage is all wrong, as with many semi-tame ducks who are used to being fed. White bread and crisps do little to maintain their proper look. As a photographer who happens to have an interest in birds and wildlife my agenda is somewhat different and I rather relish his punk look.

Note: There's another explanation for his appearance - see the Spotlight Kid's comment below. I've retitled the entry as a result.
