In passing

There are certain Buddhist paintings, made in coloured sand called Mandala. Buddhists monks make them with a precision and patience which I find incredulous. And after a few days, the intricate labour of their love is to be discarded. To make way for a new sand painting or Mandala. This is to teach them of the impermanence of all things in our world.

Today's quote:

"O my Lord if I worship thee from fear of hell, burn me in hell, and if I worship thee from hope of Paradise, exclude me thence; but if I worship thee for thine own sake, then withhold not from me thine eternal beauty."

~ Rabi'a al-Adawiyya
