Pristine

The Hurunui River at its best - its nutrient-rich waters, gathered from mountain streams empties into the Pacific Ocean where it attracts bountiful catches of salmon, trout and whitebait.

The mouth is contained by high sandstone cliffs, reflected on a calm day with the roar of the sea over the sandspit. The river quietly grows with the incoming tide, gentle ripples creep with a tiny whisper - I needed to be aware and listen to its movement or else be stranded - it didn't take long for it to grow, maybe 15 mins is all it took, just lapping ever so quietly.

The colours and beauty just took my breath away, one photo a day does not do this wild and scenic area justice.

Our bach was delightful, we enjoyed our stay of peacefulness and isolation and will return but probably when its warmer :)

Backblips start here . I will catch up with you over the next few days :)
