Abrolhos Islands. Day 1

Well, the expected 4-5 day trip turned into about 11. Being trapped on a coral reef in the Indian Ocean has it's moments. I went to photograph a small pearl farm which produces black pearls. The first leg of the trip was by light aircraft and this is the view from the cockpit as we approached Big Rat Island in the Abrolhos group, off Geraldton in Western Australia. The air strip is on the right hand of the picture and it's just about long enough. The pilot, Scott, seemed to be about 12 years old but made an excellent cross wind landing. The next leg of the trip was to go by small boat to Basile Island. The trip should normally have taken about 30 minutes but the sea was head on and very sloppy - it took one and a half hours! I'll be Back Blipping a cross section of pictures from the total shoot of about 1500.
