Abrolhos Islands Day 2

On Basile Island, which is about the size of a couple of football pitches, if that, the shacks are tightly packed together and the fishermen who work here have painted them in a variety of bright colours. There are no roads, cars, or any transport other than boats though there is a small helicopter pad. There is no mains electricity or water, no waste disposal and no water. All water used on the islands is rainwater collected in tanks. There is no real connection with the mainland but some people have TVs. Power is generated by diesel engines. Food, other than fish, is transported from the mainland. This shot was a gift, a real clash of colour.
