HMS Hopeful Watermelon

This is the Hopeful Watermelon.

We're not normally in the habit of decorating our food but my youngest son was challenged to make a boat for a river race at Cubs. They were asked to make their boats biodegradable (mostly because they didn't expect to get any of them back), so we decided to make it with a hollowed-out watermelon, wooden plant support thingies, sugar-paper sails and an impaled jelly baby for the figurehead at the bow. He ended up winning the prize for best design with his mostly-edible boat.

It was also the fastest (to the bottom of the river).
