Mountain Laurel

This plant has been in our garden for 21 years. I love its rich color. It keeps reminding me of the years when we lived in the Mid-Hudson Valley in New York State where mountain laurels grow wild. We spent many springs admiring them at the forest preserve associated with the heritage hotel, Mohonk Mountain House. We would get hiking passes for the year and spend many days walking the trails and enjoying the views of this amazing place. Here is the hotel's website. Their rooms are hugely expensive but going there for lunch and spending a day on their trails is doable. It's one of my favorite places
