Everyday I Write The Book

Turning Japanese

At the bottom of our garden where the fairies live (actually birds and a squirrel and a hedgehog - but maybe fairies too, I'd like to think) there is a new wicker screen that is meant to form the backdrop to our slowly maturing wildflower garden. In front of it is an old apple tree with various ornaments and bird feeders dangling. Today the sun made lovely casts out of all these elements and we ended up with something like a Japanese shadow theatre.

It felt like a bit of accidental magic in my own back yard.
