Everyday I Write The Book

A 20th Century Icon

This pumping station is bang opposite where I work and I've always wanted to photograph it; so when I took delivery of my new Tokina 11-16mm it was always going to be a candidate for an early shot.

What you can see of the inner space through the high windows is fascinating; it would make a great cavernous restaurant or art gallery. I like the falling backwards effect, I know you can straighten it up in photoshop but this looms large in the imagination. It's not a building it''s an icon, a powerhouse. It deserves to intimidate us.
