Lewes

It's pronounced 'Lewis' (as in Morse's sucessor) and it's the county town of East Sussex. It is a nice old town with a 14th century castle, Anne of Cleves' house (15th century), and a splendid war memorial.

Black vitrified bricks like these seem quite common in this part of the world.

I've just put up a blip for 1st July also.
