Pretty in pink

Back to Holme Fen this morning with my friend C. Hardly anyone around - it's a special place for us where we watch nature changing through the seasons. July brings the rosebay willowherb and its pretty pink flowers. Apparently it was one of the first plants to brighten London's bomb sites during the Second World War bringing a little cheer into the shattered lives of people who lost just about everything. It's a plant that thrives on disturbed ground and is often found growing alongside foxgloves.

For the record: 24C, sunny periods, very warm
