Shales and Husks

"Do but behold yond poor and starved band,
And your fair show shall suck away their souls,
Leaving them but the shales and husks of men."

- Constable of France, in Henry V by William Shakespeare

Gardening today, I spotted this discarded cicada skin on a branch of our maple tree. I tried to get a decent shot of it, and thought this angle was the best, producing the best bokeh - and I think composition. The other angles were a bit bland by comparison.

Edit: last year I took a picture of an adult cicada on our window-frame. Biiiiig sucker, too.
