Dragonfly Day

I blipped the casing of a dragonfly earlier this year and thought that would be the end of it. However, I went to have a look at the pond today and there were loads (ok so 10) of these all drying their wings and getting ready to fly off. I find this sort of thing fascinating. Apologies for the blurring but there were lots of strands of grass that just wouldn't get out of the way or petulantly stayed out of reach.

No idea what variety of Dragonfly this is but the body must have been all of 8cm long. I think they are beautiful.

Other than that I spent the day in the garden being very mean to a hedge. The hedge, as was expected, fought back by dropping various insects (no ticks found as yet) and other assorted detritus down on me. After 6 hours, we declared a draw. My hands hurt, my arms are sore and I never want to find a ladybird in my pants again - that will give you a nasty surprise every time.
