Gillipaw's Journal

She said "Yes" in St Andrews

There he was in tartan plus fours and cap, approaching the Swilken Burn Bridge after driving off the 18th tee on the Old Course. He persuaded her to go onto the bridge and pose for photographs. Suddenly he is down on one knee, cap in hand, proposing and producing a ring. Delight and cheers from onlookers when she accepted. Ring placed on finger and then off they went to finish their game at the Tom Morris hole, and begin a new chapter in their lives.

One of many highlights of our day in St Andrews. The Cathedral and the Tower (yes, climbed to the top), the Castle, the University, the 18th, the Engagement, The Glass House (highly recommended for dinner), the Icecreams at Jannetta's (52 flavours to choose from, seemingly Scottish Tablet in the current favourite).

And to think you were going to get the Royal and Ancient bathed in sunlight.
