Playing

20months 24days

Katie woke at 4.30. She had a snooze in her bed til 5, but then insisted on mine. At 5.30 she decided it was up time. She said she wanted her baby from her bed, then "mummy get it". I said "mummy's in bed still". So she climbed back in, put her arm around my neck, and went to sleep. We'll be trying that line again then.

When she got up for real an hour later, she did some lovely playing. She's really into playing with her happyland and little people stuff at the moment. It tends to involve at least one of her bath ducks invading the house, filling a whole shelf, but hey- it's her story! She was pottering around upstairs with a bag and some toys, then came up to me. "Monkey in bag. Show bobbobs". Monkey was in the bag. She did show bobbobs Monkey.

She stayed awake in the car on the way to the sports centre, so managed to make it to soft play. At first she wasnt amused that it wasnt gymnastics straight away but did then enjoy playing for a while after she'd eaten all the fruit in the bag.

By gymnastics she was beginning to flag a bit today. She loved doing the puzzles, enjoyed having a ball, but was thoroughly unimpressed with the bat she was meant to hit it with. Come circuit time, she wasnt interested and wanted to sit and eat raisins.

We met a friend for coffee and to get some jobs done. They asked Katie where she'd been "gymnastics" she replied, very matter of fact. She had a bit of a sleep, although nothing like the sleep she should have had, given how tired she was. I was taking her for a swim as we cant go tomorrow - we said goodbye to our friend at the carpark "see-you bye friend, gone walk" she said as they headed off.

She was so excited to see that her swim teacher was back. She was doing loads of swimming, having a blast. I gave her a few minutes with her arm bands so she could have a charge round, do some floating on her back and the other things she rushes through when we first get in. She played with the woggles that a few weeks ago she hated, she now swims round giggling. After Sarah had finished her class, Katie was swimming around, waving at and shouting her and splashing very excited.

We like Fridays!

In other news the circus is in town. We're not going - but I do like some of the fabulousness they bring along!
