A sense of place

Woke up to lashing rain but a sneaky look at the weather forecast suggested that the afternoon might be promising. We headed off to Crosby. Did we look at a map beforehand, no. We parked where we thought the beach was and it was quite close but a bracing walk was had first. The wind was incredible but the sun was out. What a magnificent piece of public sculpture this is. 100 statues, moulded on the artist Anthony Gormley's own body, placed all over this massive and wonderful beach. Some figures are high up on the beach, others way down on the shoreline - all starring enigmatically out to sea. Some are covered in rust, other in mussels, and some have decorations painted on the. The beach was also littered with enormous jellyfish.
