Brian's Bits

Faughing about.

Thursday appears to have been adopted as official "Going off day", weather permitting.
Today it was the turn of Eldon square.
Part way along the A69 not far from Carlisle, we saw a, BADLY POSITIONED sign informing us that the road was closed and to follow the diversion signs.

This we did, religiously, turning right when told, against the advice of the Satnav which said LEFT, and vice versa.

The only good thing to come out of this enterprise was a lot of sights we would never have otherwise seen.

The down side was ... We followed the signs to a point, (See lower shot) where we were informed that the bridge was closed and we were to ....Guess WHAT??? "Follow the diversion signs."

This we did, just as religiously to end up ..........0.25mls NEARER Carlisle than we started.

Followed the A69 and this time saw the sneaky, slimy, sodding, sign, lurking where we missed it 1st time, didn't follow the signs and finally ended up where wanted to be all along.

Another up side was that the detour forced us to eat here, rather than hunt Eldon square for an eatery.

Why, you might ask Faughing about?
Well!! we happened to pass through a wee hamlet called "Faugh".
By this time I was in a state where Faugh!!!! was my reaction.
My second though was that it might have been pronounced to rhyme with LAUGH (Which I wasn't) and would mean we'd been "Faughing about" for far too long.

OH SHUT UP! and publish the damnthing.
