Barmy Army Day...

...for days we have been fielding questions...'Can we go to Bangor today?'...'When are we going to Bangor?'...'Is this Bangor day?'...today was Bangor Day!

The barmy army live for Bangor day...why...because Bangor has amusements on the promenade and a fantastic park. In Bangor you can spend £40 in 20 minutes...with nothing tangible to show at the end of it apart from some extremely happy kids:-) But, heh, that's what holidays are for...

The other request for the holiday was from Es for a return visit to the Ulster Folk Museum, just outside Holywood...home of Rory McIlroy as they proudly announce and so they should.

The geography of these two places makes it possible to tick them off on the same day:-)

So, this morning, we headed out to the Ulster Folk Museum. It is a fantastic place. They have basically transplanted 60 odd properties from different parts to this estate on the outskirts of Belfast. There are actors/volunteers in many of the properties that bring the place to life...last year we tasted soda bread just off the griddle from an open fire...this year the Ulster Folk Museum has gone all Titanic and so we listened to the story of a fireman from the Olympic...a sister ship of the Titanic. The Ulster Folk Museum is a museum we can all enjoy...after walking around the town area first...and having to take refuge in the cafe for a much needed coffee and cake we headed back to the car to pick up Canna the Weimaraner for a wander around the rural properties.

Ulster Folk Museum...check:-)...Bangor here we come...

What can I say..a good time was had by all...even Mr R who is a serious bah humbug when it comes to amusements but to be fair, he doesn't partake but he does enjoy seeing everyone else having a good time:-)

I think the Rooster made the height limit this year for driving a dodgem car by himself but his kamikaze attitude to life made me ride shotgun...it was hilarious...the buncle was on at the same time and the other participants were scary enough without being dangerous...the mammy was happy:-)

A wee walk along the Bangor promenade for me...very short time in the park this year because the heavens opened and we had to make a mad dash back to the car...then rounded off the day with pizza from Dominoes eaten in the car...what more can you ask for:-)
