In Nottingham city centre there is currently a pleasure beach set up which basically comprises of a fake beach, a bar, and a few rides and slot machines like this one. Whilst the idea is nice, it seems to fall short a bit when you see it being used. The weather is hardly beach weather, so it looks a little out of place to start with, and then as far as I could tell, it seemed that rather than the kids enjoying the 2p and 10p slot machines, their parents where busy playing whilst their children stood around and watched. Its the perfect example of one of the things that really gets to me about Nottingham at the moment, the way that many of its citizens don't seem to grow up. Not in the good way where they stay young at heart, but in a way that they don't understand their place in the world, and don't accept their responsibilities as they become adults and even parents.
