A walk on Gullane beach

What a corker of a day! Along with half of the world we headed out first thing, choosing Gullane Beach as a destination. Away from the immediate vicinity of the car park we found peace and quiet as we wandered along, and then picked our way over the rocks of Black Craig point. Exquisite light and colour, just enough swell to make the sea interesting and few enough people to make photographing the beach easy. I had serious problems choosing a blip. Gullane is also a great place to visit as it makes it possible to pop into Falko's for a take out of fresh bread and buns for lunch.

Last night we headed up to George Square gardens which have been done out for the Festival in ways that differ subtly from previous years although I am unable to put my finger on anything specific other than the fact that 'real' fake grass has been used for the surface underfoot. The concert was Tcha Limburger in a quartet playing Django Reinhardt tunes and similar. Fapy Lafertin, although promised, was not there because of a family bereavement. We didn't really notice his absence. Limburger is a consumate gypsy jazz violinist with his own distinctive style. And as he is blind, we had to conclude that he has a lot notes in his heid. I would very much like to see him with his Budapest Gypsy Orchestra with whom he has recently been touring.
