But it didn't stay grey. Half an hour and a picnic lunch later the sun came out and it was roasting hot, even though I'd begun the day wearing a winter fleece.

It must be about eighteen months since we've been to this particular beach and they've done something to it... moved the sand and stones about quite a bit and there's now no sand underfoot when you go into the sea... not until it's up to your waist anyway, even though this photo makes it look as though there is. I think we'll go a bit further along when we next have a beach day.
