Annecy Panorama

A great walk today. Hard work but great.

It promised to be a quick 2.5 hour walk along a ridge promising great views. Yes, great views were had but it must be said that it took a little bit longer, mostly due to the 3 year old sitting on my shoulders from start to finish (with the exception of the scramble in the middle which he insisted on climbing before getting back aloft for the easy bits!).

We climbed a ridge visible from where we are staying. In fact, the photograph was taken from that ridge. I'm sure I'm not alone in getting wanderlust when staying somewhere. You have a nagging urge to go where you can see so in that respect it was part satisfied today.

Lovely hot weather but great to be in the shade of a fabulous forest. Lovely Alpine scenery and some astonishing barns and farmhouses (sometimes both combined in one fabulous building).

Back to the pool where we are staying which this afternoon was dominated by alpha male English teenagers who seemed oblivious to all around them, throwing each other in and indulging in some long run up bombing. They broke every rule except heavy petting! I wondered where their parents were - maybe I am turning into a grumpy old man but I'm pretty much okay with any behaviour as long as it doesn't ruin anyone else's' day. Tiny holiday rant over.

Clouds in the sky. Still sunny but is the weather about to change. That's not part of the plan...!
