Bananaman!

It was our fourth annual Clayton Caravan Park fun-day just outside St Andrews this year.

Our next-door neighbours have a static caravan on this park and it's always a good laugh at the funday, where lots of competitive events take place and money is raised for charity.

Here is this year's charity hoop-la stall; all done in the best possible taste as Kenny Everett may have said.

I've been a regular in a tug-of-war team at this event and we were reigning champions going into this year's event having won it three years in a row.

Unfortunately our competitors, knowing they had a job on their hands, partook in some underhand tactics. this varied from football/rugby boots/blades to working gloved for extra grip on the blue nylon tow-rope that was in use this year.

We came close as we made it to the final, which went to 1-1, making the final pull the decider. Unfortunately the slope of the pitch was against us, as were five guys all wearing gloves against us old-skool tuggers. We held them for quite a while on that final pull, but a loss of footing in our team made it a difficult task to regain our rhythm ad we lost it.

As the general populace wanted to see us toppled from our pedestal, no-one was willing to entertain any cries of 'come on ref'.

Ah well, there is always next year.
