An Old Airman's Life

A Tribute to Life

I was dropped off at the Pearl Street Station in downtown Dallas. Across the street from where I was dropped off is the Cancer Survivors Plaza. A series of statues are shown moving through a series of squares. A father and mother carrying their son lead a running woman followed by a very elderly couple. A father and daughter trail.

The park had several families enjoying the 108 degree day. The fountains were off. I don't know if that is because of the drought or just because. The circus is in town so there were many youngsters on the light rail trains. Today the city of Dallas handed out school supplies to 35,000 needy students. All these activities seemed to add to the normal crush of folks wandering around downtown.

The TRE commuter train ran at 40 mph when it normally races along at 70 mph. The fear is that with the extreme heat, the tracks will deform and the train derail. Yes it makes me wonder what would happen. But not wonder too much not to ride it. Hopefully, we will get rain which would lower the temperatures and help refill our reservoirs.
