Black billed gull on the river

Work today, so down to the river afterwards and luckily there was a little boy feeding the birds, and a bit of light coming and going.

This gull had grabbed and eaten a bit of bread, and was heading back for more.

Amazing the agility they steer and change direction, moving their wings. Lovely birds in flight.

these birds are endemic to New Zealand, and are our most threatened gull. People tend to think of gulls as numerous and in no danger, it's to be hoped they are given a chance before they really start to disappear.
