scar face

there were a lot of deer meandering about today... i was in love -- saw several fawns as well with their mamas... but they were bounding around so fast every shot came out blurred. it's incredible how quickly they move although when i called to them, they all turned their precious little heads to look at me and stare... i'd swear they recognized my voice from the last time i saw them a couple weeks ago - really!

anyway, then came this big guy... leading a pack of about 8 other deer. he looked rather worn; moving slowly, glancing at me, listening to my voice and stopping to look at me directly once he was safe in the grasses. his face totally scared... i told him this was okay - we're all like that - have been through battles in our lives... it creates character and strength within us to face our present - our future, too. i told him he was one of the most beautiful creatures i'd ever seen... that was right after i took this shot, i had the camera away from my face - he gave me the most soulful look... but i missed capturing it on film since my camera was down, however it's a shared moment between human and animal i won't forget. do you have those? where you feel a definite connection that touches you? you swear, know and believe without a doubt the animal understands exactly what you are communicating with them? this is how it was today with this fellow and why i'm posting him and his face.

there is no shame in being scarred - seen or unseen scars. they are what make us who we are... god uses them to develope a gentle knowing so each can then relate to humanity and nature in our life journey. honestly, sometimes i struggle with my own scars... but i'm continually blessed with simple moments like this - encounters that wouldn't ordinarily happen if i wasn't watching for them... waiting... expecting...

then exhaling... because i know it's been a

happy day.....
