ART WALK FOR HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH # 1

Some of the world's leading street artists like Logan Hicks, Flying Fortress, D * Face, The London Police, Fenx, Will Barras, Galo, Shepard Fairey and Martin Whatson are coming to Oslo.

Beside decorating walls down town they also are donating works to be sold at Blomqvist Fine Arts (oldest auction house in Norway) to raise funds for the Human Rights Watch. The artists and the organizers, T&J Art Walk, want to make a statement against terrorism, intolerance and hate by supporting Human Rights Watch in its work. Human Rights Watch is one of the world's leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights.

The walls of Blomqvist have just been decorated by FAILE (Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller). They used two days to complete the art. FAILE (an anagram of A Life and pronounced "fail") is based in Brooklyn and is known for their pioneering use of wheatpasting and stenciling. It is rather cool to see their street art on the walls to Blomqvist.

I was lucky to meet the manager of Blomqvist, Knut Forsberg, outside the auction house. He told me that they wanted to be a part of Art Walk since this art form is popular and it's important to support human rights. Faile has been shown in Modern Tate in 2008.

Knut Forsberg was a real gentleman and invited me in to see the exhibition before opening hours. Thank you so much!
