Sweet Shop

Jordan holiday - Day 8

On the last full day we drove back north to the capital, Amman, but instead of dropping our stuff off at the hotel first and getting chance to change, our guide decided to go into the city for lunch and some more sightseeing. I was pretty cheesed off as I'd not had a chance to apply sunscreen or cover up and it was baking hot.

The one high point was stopping at this shop to buy local sweets. The one on the left was like baklava but the middle one was amazing - cheese underneath (warm) with honey, ground pistachios and breadcrumbs on top. Very popular with the locals. We also managed to escape one of the tours of yet more antiquities (I had seen enough already) and buy some spices at a local shop. They display them in great pyramids on the counter. Better not sneeze!!
