Flood!

With a flood warning issued for Cramond this morning I took a trip down there for the high tide, figuring if there was going to be any scene of watery destruction, high tide was the time it was going to happen! In the end though, there was nothing much to report. You could see the heavy flow of the Almond at the river mouth and few boats had broken moorings but not a lot else that out the ordinary. Some huge dirty brown waves at the beach but nothing too worrying. Or at least worrying if you lived in Cramond.

Headed from there up to the wier upstream, river looked a lot higher here and this was the wier itself. Highest I've ever seen it. Above the wier the river had burst it's banks and was visibly advancing so I didn't hang around that long. Where this was taken there were surges coming over the wall and just downstream the river was starting to burst the banks there as well. Worth seeing it like this but thought it better not to start trying any long exposure stuff, didn't fancy wet feet again.
