Chinese relay

Kids excited about the Chinese relay which is starting soon, compare their team numbers which have been written on their hands.

A chinese relay is a race with 2 members to each team - a slow(er) and fast(er) team up and set off in different directions on a circular route. When they meet, they turn round and come back. Therefore the faster runner gets to run further than the slower runner.

The running club had a chinese relay and a social with pie and peas afterwards. I have a foot in both camps, being a member of the running club, and the kids playing cricket at the Cricket Club where the social was held. Everyone said they had a good time mixing with club members that they would otherwise not meet. I learned how to cook mega pans of mushy peas, and how not to burn 70+ pies!
