Las Vegas

After a lunch date with my dad and niece, I was off to the airport. I flew to Las Vegas with a friend for a mermaid convention. We arrived in Las Vegas in the evening and caught a shuttle (late, as our flight arrived late) to the hotel. When we walked through the door, this is what we saw--a 117,00 gallon salt water tank with lots of fish (I fell in love with stingrays during this trip) and a mermaid at certain times of the day. A mermaid was in the tank when we arrived, performing for the people. She focused most of her attention on the children, of course, and one little girl leaned in to kiss the glass. It was pretty cute! The mermaids in the aquarium have to be scuba certified but the mermaid also had a scuba diver in the tank with her, lurking in the background. She uses a hose to take in oxygen and was constantly blowing up bubbles.

After we checked in and put our things in our room we toured the hotel and eventually settled in the Mermaid Bar. We sat in chairs with backs in the shape of mermaid tails and watched the fish swim through the aquarium. I've read studies that state that watching fish is a good way to relieve stress and I can completely understand why. We relaxed while watching the fish and found ourselves in those seats often throughout the weekend.
