Moths Are Marvels

Having spent some time meandering through various books on butterflies and moths ( to identify today's upload) I have come to the conclusion that moths are marvels. So tiny yet all have such intricate patterns and colours .it's no wonder thay can be mistaken for the beautiful butterflies we see.

Anyway after extensive research I have not yet identified this tiny creature which I spotted on the window just as we were going to bed.

In true blip fashion out came the camera , much too dark to hand hold so set up the tripod at which point John gave up and went to bed. Played about with various settings , even tried flash . Throughout all this the moth stayed put. Another appeared but I would have had to be a contortionist to get at it.

Eventually I headed for bed reasonably pleased. This morning , when processing , I noticed this other tiny insect in the image . It must have been the size of a pinhead . I also noticed lots of tiny spots on the window so had to spend ages cleaning it up ( on the computer that is ).

Think John will have to wash the windows- one of his jobs around the house.
Strangely enough at breakfast the first question from he who disappeared to bed in disgust was how was the moth shot ?

Just found out it's a Common Carpet Moth, what a disappointing name dor this wee beauty.
