Owl in the Forest

A bit windy, a bit cloudy. H and I had a long walk around the island. Artist friends B and R used to live here on this property toward the south end and create wonderful things, including concrete sculptures like this one of R's, announcing the driveway to the off-the-grid house. Someone else lives there now and the Rue sign is a recent addition - have no idea of it's significance, but it sure does change the feel of the place.! ?

There continue to be a lot of turkey vultures around and today we saw one reason. On our way back by the beach in our bay, we saw an Eagle and 5-6 vultures. The baby seal we had heard was abandoned over 2 weeks ago, and then we heard dead, was on the beach. Would not be a pretty blip. I thought it would be a lot closer to bare bones by now so wonder if there is more than one. And perhaps this is some explanation for why the seals have been so scarce on our rocks in the bay. We'll keep a watch and maybe there will be a seal skeleton to salvage. I also tried to figure if he matched the photos of the seals I took but it was too hard to identify... Years ago I rescued an abandoned seal but I know nature has it's reasons.....
