Swinging

Swinging on a rope over a river has got to be up there in the top 10 best things to do.
I can personally vouch for the strength of the rope as it held me when I couldn't resist.
This swing is over the river Windrush at Minster Lovell.
It' s a great spot for a relaxing quiet picnic with the added bonus that the river is literally stacked full of Signal Crayfish invaders from America.
We saw families catching them by the bucketload and boiling them up to eat by the river bank.
You catch them in a similar way that you fish for crab, using a line with a bulldog clip holding a piece of fish in it.
The Crayfish are so voracious that they cling on as you pull in the line, you then drop them into a net avoiding contact with their vicious claws.
They grow to over 6 inches long and make a delicious free picnic of which Hugh F W off the tele would approve.
