Groundhog 4X

This groundhog appeared from under our neighbor's pod (storage container) this morning. The shots are in sequence--in the last it has moved to the right, about to duck under the next gap under the pod. Here it is large.

Groundhogs (Marmota monax) are also known as woodchucks, and belong to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots. They're common throughout much of the United States, and are regarded as pests in many places.

Over a year ago in Saskatchewan I blipped a Richardson's Ground Squirrel (not sure if it's a relative) which had been captured by a Swift Fox--an infinitely more exciting sighting than this.

EXIF data didn't make it: Canon EOS 1D Mark III, 400 mm+ 2X extender, 1/500 sec @f8, ISO 1000.
