Dutch Skies

Red Admiral

A nice summer day today. In the morning, I managed to finish the photo album for our summer holiday in Tuscany. It's on Blurb; for a 15 page preview check here. The words are in Dutch, but I guess the photos mostly speak for themselves.

Martine, Nienke and Inge went to the swimming pool in the morning for another swimming lesson for Nienke. Two days ago was her first lesson after the holiday. We didn't know she was supposed to swim with her clothes on, as part of the preparation for her swimming exam, or 'diploma swimming' as it is called here. She was the only one turning up in a bathing suit. Luckily the clothes she was wearing weren't that new so she could swim in those, while Martine drove back to our house to get some clean clothes to wear afterwards. Today's lesson was also with clothes on, but this time we were prepared. Another lesson tomorrow and if Nienke did well the last couple of days, she will be allowed to take the swimming exam next Wednesday.

It got nice and warm in the afternoon and there were lots of butterflies on the summer lilac near our front door. I got out with the compact camera and took this shot (and lots more) of a red admiral.

I was working on the photo album until very late last night and I ended up backblipping Inge's birthday. If you missed it, meet Inge's friend Youri here.
