Sunshine and Showers

Nesfield and Beamsley Beacon from Ilkley Moor.

Go panoramic.

I chose to blip this shot because it seemed to perfectly capture the mood of the day, and indeed of the whole summer really. Off and on weather, bright sunshine one minute, pouring with the rain the next; beautiful one day, completely dreich the following!

I went for a wonderful run on the moor this evening and enjoyed almost continuous sun while watching some rather ominous weather pass to the north. The showers have been incredibly localised. No.1 son was playing cricket at Calverley, less than 10 miles away, and had no rain interruption, allowing them to win and secure promotion to the top tier of the league next year. Meanwhile, No.2 son's home match was called off after only twenty or so overs, the players dashing back and forth to the pavilion every few minutes! The seconds could gain promotion too if they win next week's game against their chief rivals Colton. Should be a great match. If they do manage to secure victory I think I'll have to post a cricket blip!
