Kinda Before Horrigans

The one who got left behind...

... or 'bringing up the rear'!

Not a great deal of editing. I was after a high key feel with this and so rather than spot metering for the light areas, metered for Felix's clothes in the centre of the image. This meant that that area was exposed correctly, and the light areas were deliberately 'blown'. The ISO was at 100 - because of the bright conditions, and a fairly fast shutter speed of 1/500 and a wide aperture of f/3.2. It's the combination of that wide aperture and a shutter speed which could have been a lot faster which helps with the high key aspect as well.

With the RAW file, I warmed up the tones just a tad. Then, opening it in Photoshop, I brought out a little of the detail in his hair by dodging it using a white brush set at 10% opacity on a 50% grey layer set to overlay blend mode. Then, duplicated the background layer - applied a high pass filter - and used a layer mask to take the sharpening off everything except for Felix in the centre.

Flattened and saved.

Tip of the day:
For more about how to shoot in harsh light, there's a good little article on it which is worth a look. You can take advantage of it and enjoy that light, bright feel - but for 'proper' photography, understanding how to work with it is useful.
